About the Section Representative Role
PURPOSE
The role of a section representative is to:-- Support individual members of the section;
- Listen to section members’ feedback;
- Welcome new members to the section;
- Act as a conduit between the section and the Music Director and/or the Management Committee
RESPONSIBILITES
- Consider recommending sectional rehearsals.
- When and where appropriate, support an individual member of the section, signposting to sources of advice and guidance.
- Work closely with the Membership Secretary, with particular reference to ensuring section members sign the weekly rehearsal signing-in sheets, the concert sign-up sheets, and the register on concert days.
- Support the MD and Management Committee in their decisions and assist in the decision-making process.
REQUIREMENTS
- Interpersonal and communication skills – able to be understanding and empathetic.
- Be a trusted representative to give section members confidence that he/she will deal with any issues sensitively.
- Able to give supportive and constructive feedback, and to support the Music Director when his direct feedback to an individual member is considered more appropriate.
